$10,000 in groceries and an at-home tailgate package draw interest

One giveaway down and another one in progress for Missouri's part of www.farmersfeedus.org. Earlier this year, winners of the "Free Groceries for a Year!" promotion were drawn from some 93,000 Missouri consumer registrants. They are:
•    Carol Lipsky, Kearney (just northeast of Kansas City)
•    Lois Scudero, St. Paul (just northwest of St. Louis)

Missouri farmers and industry representatives presented each of the winners with their gift cards for $5,000 in free groceries.
Sponsored by 14 agricultural groups and agribusiness organizations, the "Free Groceries for a Year!" sweepstakes was designed to help consumers connect with the farm families who grow their food.

"It was a very worthwhile cause to put a face on agriculture and let the urban consumers know what we do on a daily basis and how we go about producing their food supply," said Missouri Corn Merchandising Council board member Rob Korff.
Currently, consumers can register for an "Ultimate At-Home Tailgate Party."  In this new sweepstakes, residents have a chance to win a prize package that includes a flat screen television, a BBQ grill and approximately $750 in grocery gift cards.  The registration form is available at www.farmersfeedus.org by selecting Missouri as the state.

Sponsoring Missouri agriculture groups for the sweepstakes include the Missouri Pork Association, Missouri Beef Industry Council, Missouri Corn Merchandising Council, Missouri Dairy Growth Council, Missouri Soybean Association, Midwest Dairy Association, FCS Financial, Missouri Agribusiness Association (MO-AG), The Missouri Egg Council, Missouri Cattlemen's Association, MFA Incorporated, Monsanto, St. Louis Agribusiness Club and the Kansas City Agribusiness Council.
