Meeting in Sedalia kicks off MFA’s centennial events
In 2014, MFA Incorporated will turn 100 years old. One of the cooperative’s traditions is its annual meeting. While the annual meeting has taken several forms over the years, in the early days of the cooperative, it was held at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, with farmers traveling literally days to attend. Once on site, attendees camped at the fairgrounds and delegates from farm clubs throughout the state saw to the business of the cooperative. It was a true social event as well.
The annual meeting is still used to conduct the business of the membership as well as inform members about MFA’s financial status, business plans, and products and services. And if you have attended, you know it’s still a social event. This year, MFA’s annual meeting will again be held in Sedalia at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Delegates and attendees will be treated to a program to commemorate MFA’s history and help to re-create the traditional panoramic photos taken at earlier meetings at the fairgrounds.
